Meet the chaplain
Chaplain Jerry Scott, M.Div., BCC

Working in the health care industry has given me a holistic approach to ministry. I believe that the spiritual nature is the primary essence of humanity. My specialties are spiritual distress, spiritual isolation, and grief or loss issues. I have nearly two decades of experience as a chaplain. I have a Master’s of Divinity, with emphasis in pastoral care, from Memphis Theological Seminary. After being the pastor of three churches, I took some post-graduate classes in pastoral psychology at Duke University. I have completed five units of Clinical Pastoral Education. My ministry style comes mostly from a family systems approach. I incorporate active listening and unconditional positive regard. I am also known for encouraging my clients to process the hard questions of life. I have a gift of helping people see alternative ways of looking at difficult situations, which can bring healing and hope. I sometimes give homework assignments or offer challenges to be worked on outside of our sessions. A sliding scale fee is available.
